    Recycling in Winnetka's Business Districts

The Public Works Department now provides free recycling to Winnetka’s businesses who are customers of the Village’s refuse services.  When a business recycles, their solid waste service costs usually decrease, and they lower their environmental impact too!
Any Winnetka business interested in recycling services should call the Public Works Department at 716-3568.  To see ideas for additional ways to divert waste from landfills, visit www.swancc.org  and check out the Green Pages.

Elm Street Metra Station Rehabilitation Project
Slated to Begin Monday, February 15

The rehabilitation of the Elm Street Metra station will include new inbound and outbound platforms & shelters; stairways, elevators, lighting, pedestrian bridge and bicycle racks; and will also involve renovation of the station depot’s interior.
Starting Thursday, February 18, the ticket agent will be relocated to a trailer immediately south of the depot building.  In addition, a construction trailer will be located in the northwestern portion of the commuter parking lot, resulting in the temporary loss of approximately 20 parking spaces.
Additional commuter parking spaces will be available on the west side of Lincoln Avenue (south of Elm Street), and adjacent to the Village Green on Maple Street.  To see a map illustrating the commuter parking areas, click here.
The proposed phasing of the project into two stages will allow for platform closures in segments, providing continual access to the platforms throughout construction.  Every effort is being made to minimize commuter inconvenience during construction, and status updates will be posted periodically.
